After we took our little hike we all headed over the playground to let the kids tire themselves out! They started out playing together on the little playground, where Lauren acclimated herself to the slides. After a little bit, David headed off to the big playground with daddy.
Lauren saw how much prettier the big playground was, and how much fun David was having and decided that she was brave enough to join him. She loves the big slides!!
David's favorite slide is the twisty slide, Lauren isn't quite ready for that one yet but she likes the almost-twisty slide for now.
On Tuesday night this week we decided to have a fun family day since Chris was off work. We had fun playing together all day and going out to Chili's for dinner. David and Lauren found some stickers to amuse themselves with that evening too.
Tuesday morning was exciting for Chris and David. They were on their way to the storage unit and to get their hair cut when Chris saw a mommy duck sitting on a storm grate. He thought it was odd that she didn't move when he drove up in the car so he rolled his window down to look at the duck and heard this tiny peeping sound coming from the storm drain! He got out and looked down and realized that the momma duck's 11 newly hatched babies had all fallen down the drain. Chris ran to the office at our apartments and they called animal control to come and help. Chris and the animal control guy got the grate off the drain and the animal control guy jumped in and scooped up the ducklings and handed them to Chris. The mommy duck and her brood headed off toward the pond and Chris said she gave the babies an earfull all the way there. We looked for them later that day and couldn't find them, we decided that the babies must be grounded and not allowed out for a while.
Yesterday Chris spotted the little duck family so we headed out to see if we could get close to them. We took some bread to feed them and eventually their desire for the bread won out over their fear and they came pretty close to us.
We also saw sooo many little tadpoles. They are so tiny right now! Chris and I are going to get our David's old 5 gallon fish tank and catch some so we can all watch them turn into frogs. Chris went on-line yesterday to look up what they eat and what they need at different stages of their metamorphosis.
I had fun on the way back to our place looking at all of the plants that were blooming this spring. This time of year is always so beautiful!!
This morning we all headed outside to play for a while before Chris had to go to work and David to school. We had fun kicking the soccer balls around, David rode his bike and Lauren attempted to ride his scooter. She mostly ended up getting pushed on the scooter, maybe we'll start looking at trikes for her. She always gets so upset when David rides his bike because she wants one too! Well, I've got to run, Lauren is about to wake up from her nap and I've got a few things to do before that. We hope everyone is having a wonderful week and enjoying their spring!! We'll post again soon!
Love,
Chris, Megan, David & Lauren
