lots of pictures :oD

Well, I found these pictures that I forgot to post the other day. I made a Red Velvet cake for dessert, a family favorite, but Lauren is apparently my little "health nut! She wanted nothing to do with the cake, she wouldn't even try the frosting!

She wanted a banana instead! That's my silly little healthy girl. (P.S. This morning for breakfast she didn't want cereal or oatmeal, or any other normal breakfast thing. She had rice and a banana! Silly girl.)
Chris had Thursday off work so we got to run some errands and have a family day. The weather was beautiful!! We got up and ate breakfast and did the dishes, then we played for a while until we had to drop David off at school. Lauren loves wearing warm-weather clothes!
After we dropped David off at school we went to Babies'R'Us to get her a little umbrella stroller so we wouldn't have to always lug the big stroller around. (Chris was very excited that I found a pink one, ok, maybe I was very excited that I found a pink one. Lauren likes it too!) Then we headed to the mall to get some new work shirts for Chris. We also stopped at a seafood store that we'd heard about, but didn't find anything that looked very good for dinner. (We definitely don't eat as much seafood up north, it is kind of hard to come by.) By the time we were done with all of that, it was time to get David from school and head to a local grocery store to get some salmon and steak to grill for dinner. Lauren loves to be a helper. David doesn't love to have his picture taken!
Once we got upstairs and got everything put away, we decided that we were all pretty hungry! Chris and Lauren headed out to the porch to get the grill fired up, and take a few calls while David took a bath.
We all wanted to take advantage of the nice weather so the kids and I kept Chris company while he made dinner.
The kids had fun watching the ducks and goldfish in the pond out back. Chris got to sit down and relax and enjoy having a day at home.

On Saturday morning David had his second soccer game at 10:00. It was supposed to rain, but held out until after the game. It was a little cooler out, but great weather for David to play soccer without being too cold or too hot. Lauren helped get our chairs set up and then got ready to cheer her big brother on!
David had a great time, and is getting much better about going after the ball.
Lauren kept pretty busy (and kept me busy chasing after her!) She had fun kicking David's soccer ball around and climbing in and out of the chairs.
When not on the field, all the boys payed close attention to the match. (In between seeing how many boys could fit in one chair!)

By the end of the match Lauren was pretty tired and ready for her nap!

After each match, all the boys get a snack and a drink. David had a bit of trouble sitting his chair to eat his! He must have been worn out from all that running!

We're going to attempt the zoo on Sunday since Chris has the day off. It is supposed to rain, but hopefully the weather man is wrong. If we go I'll be sure to post more pictures on Monday! I've got to run, I hope everyone has a great rest-of-the-weekend!!

Hooray for sunshine!!

Hello all!! We have had a pretty good week so far. On Monday David wasn't feeling too well, so he missed swimming and soccer. Chris still went to soccer practice after work and helped out since one of the coaches couldn't make it.
On Tuesday Lauren had her baby-gymnastics class, which she always loves. She was extremely excited because she got to wear shorts since it was so nice out. She sat in her carseat laughing and clapping her hands on her knees the whole way to gymnastics!
This morning I had a dentist appointment at 8:30 (they told me to "keep up the good work") and then Chris had to go to work when I got home. The kids played pretty well this morning, David went on a hunger strike at lunch (over spaghetti, of all things!! It's his favorite!) When we got in the van to drive David to school I discovered that my left front tire was completely flat!! I called the school to let them know that David would be a bit late, since we would be walking. I called Chris to let him know, then I called AAA and sat on hold for way too long. I finally hung up and put Lauren in her stroller and we all walked over to drop David off at school. I called AAA again on the way home and they said they'd be out in about 30 minutes. Lauren fell asleep in her stroller so I decided to let her sleep and I sat on the sidewalk and read a book while we waited. It was a bit windy, but beautiful out!! Once our tire was finally fixed, Lauren and I ran a few errands, picked David up from school and then ran one more errand and came home. (Where I discovered that I'd gotten a sunburn on the top of my back and back of my neck while walking to and from school! Apparently it's been a while since any of my skin saw the sun, this winter was pretty gloomy.)
I've got to run and make dinner, we're going to a friend's house tonight for a bit. Chris has tomorrow off, we've got to run and get him some new work clothes (he keeps demolishing his! He had a BBQ sauce jar explode all over him the other day! I'm still trying to save that shirt.) I'll try to get some nice pics tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get out to a park or something. I'll talk to everyone again soon!!

The rest of the week . . .

Well, Tuesday was pretty uneventful (as far as I can remember). We enjoyed the nice weather that we had last week! Most days we were wearing short sleeves and leaving our jackets in the car. Lauren had her baby gymnastics class on Tuesday afternoon and wanted to run around the floor in circles more than she wanted to play on any of the equipment. I don't think we'll sign her up for that class again until the fall or winter (whenever it starts to get too cold to go outside again.) We've been to the park a few times now and it's so nice to just play outside!

Wednesday I went to the gym again (finally!) since I'm finally over the never-ending cold. I want to start making it over there more consistently, I have so much more energy when I do! Chris opened on Wednesday so he was home kind of early, we got to eat dinner together early (for us) which was nice. Chris found Lauren's new favorite snacking spot too :oD

Thursday and Friday were pretty uneventful as well. We just enjoyed the weather some more. Lauren got to wear shorts on Friday and was so excited. When we went to pick David up from school she kept kicking her legs in her car seat and playing with her feet and laughing. We got to the school a little early so we sat to wait until the kids got out. Lauren pointed at the van door on her side and whined because she wanted it open. I opened the door for her and she sat there looking out and laughing and kicking her feet in the breeze.

This morning David had his first official soccer game. His team named themselves "the Wildcats" and they were the visiting team for the first game. David was really excited when we pulled up to the field, he couldn't wait for Chris to help him put his new soccer cleats on. (He loves the new soccer ball that coordinates with his cleats, too.)

Our nice, sunny, warm weather didn't hold out past Friday afternoon. It rained Friday night and was 43 degrees and drizzling when we got to the field. After a false start (David got half-way to the field, decided it was too cold to play, and came back to the van to tell us he wasn't playing!) we finally "convinced" David that he wanted to play soccer and that he wasn't too cold.
Once he actually got on the field, he had a great time!

Lauren and I stayed in the van for a few minutes to wait out the rain. We got to the field just in time to see David make a great save for his team!

And then we watched someone else kick the ball sailing past, right him into the goal.

The kids all had a great time. Lauren even sat still for most of the game and just watched the action.

We are so proud of David! This game was a far departure from his soccer adventures last summer at soccer camps and such. He is finally going after the ball and getting right in the middle of all he kids. I think he's finally getting to understand what he's supposed to be doing out there, and realizing that he really enjoys it.

There were a lot of kids on both teams who seemed to have been playing for years (even though it's a kindergarten league). I think this will be good for David to watch the more experienced boys and learn from them.

Proud daddy watched from the sidelines. He stayed by the Wildcat's chairs to help out if they needed him. He's going to help with practice on Monday.

The Wildcats won, 7-6!! (Okay, so it would have actually been 6-5 but each team scored one goal on themselves. Oh, well, at least they evened each other out.) David can't wait for his game next week (hopefully we won't need coats again!)

Poor little Lauren is sick again this weekend :o( I was supposed to volunteer in the nursery at church tonight and hold babies (or, as Chris says, I was supposed to go get my baby "fix") but I couldn't take Lauren with an upset tummy and Chris won't be home until after midnight tonight. I'm supposed to greet at church tomorrow so Chris and I may have to "tag team". Maybe he can go to the middle service while I watch Lauren and then he can watch her while I greet at the late service. We'll have to see how she's doing in the morning. I definitely must go now, I am pretty tired from a long day and it looks like we're going to have a pretty busy day tomorrow as well. I hope you are all having a great weekend! We miss and love you and we'll talk to you soon!

Love,
Chris, Megan, David & Lauren

Oh, yeah. P.S. ~ It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow night! I did not want to have to get out the warm coats again! Hopefully Monday will turn back into pretty spring weather!
